"Ben joined the Nether Stowey team in September 2013 as a Sports Premium-funded coach teaching the PE curriculum to children from Reception to Year 6. He has also run after school clubs, holiday sports playschemes and run INSET for teachers to improve their knowledge and teaching abilities in PE. Ben is a competent and effective teacher whose lessons are exciting and engaging. His lessons encourage all children to do their very best and they are always keen to succeed, no matter what the focus.
Ben’s INSET for staff as well-received and gave teachers new ideas and approaches to teaching gymnastics and warm-ups. This input has ensured that the Sports Premium has left a lasting legacy for sports standards at our school.
The after school clubs and holiday sports activities Ben has run have always been well-attended by children of all ages. Children report that they think he is a ‘Brilliant teacher because his lessons are fun and we’re tired by the end’ (Paige & Phoebe, Year 3).
I was delighted to extend Ben’s teaching contract for a further year this year. I would highly recommend him to other schools looking to improve their current sports provision." Rosanna Roberts - Head teacher at Nether Stowey School

“We have been delighted at the service provided by Key Stage
Coaching and Ben Kirk in particular. The
lessons are consistently delivered to a very high standard and the rapport
developed with the children is really pleasing and very important to us as a
school. Key Stage Coaching have been
very flexible and deliver in 3 different ways at our school; PPA cover, CPD for
teachers and a very successful Gifted and Talented programme for each year
group. We cannot recommend Key Stage
Coaching highly enough and were proud and confident to feedback to Ofsted on
our website. All the teachers that have
had PE specific CPD have commented on how good the lessons are, how much they
have learned and have been able to use in their own lessons.” Heather Good – Head teacher at Westover Green
"We have employed Ben as part of our Sport Premium Funding, aiming to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision at the school. We have also focused on improving staff subject knowledge and providing targeted support to more able pupils. Ben has been the ideal coach to facilitate this. He is highly knowledgeable and approachable. He has high expectations and is able to motivate and inspire all children. I can unreservedly recommend him."
